A Southwest DC Waterfront Condo

This Southwest DC Waterfront Condo was purchased during my client's final year in Law School and she was savvy enough to look past the mattress in the corner of the first floor and the dastardly paint job and see the potential of this condo. Fast forward 17 years, a husband, a daughter and a previous renovation and she knew her Southwest DC Waterfront Condo was ready for a change. Although she reached out to several contractors, designers and design build firms in the DC area it wasn't ... View Post

Teen Bedrooms

This is the next part of my previous post Capitol Hill Rowhouse, Teen Bedrooms. So the girls both had a definite point of view where their rooms were concerned. Each could have one wow moment and then we would create the room around it. Not surprisingly they both chose wallpaper. BEDROOM 1 For the oldest girl she came prepared with her color palette and Pinterest board in tow. So immediately I thought of using a Black Crow Studios wallpaper mural on her ceiling. They were so amazing ... View Post

Capitol Hill Rowhouse

This Capitol Hill Row house used to belong to the homeowner's grandparents. The grandparents had been in the house since the 60s. So when their grandmother passed they purchased the home and set about renovating it. I worked with the builder to make selections of all fixtures and finishes, including paint, tile, lighting fixtures, cabinets and floors to name a few. I also worked with the homeowner while the renovations where happening to make furniture, area rugs and window treatment ... View Post

Mid Century Modern Laundry

Mid Century Modern Laundry

I met this client at a Palm Spring Mid Century Modern conference and sound we were speaking about her Mid Century Modern laundry or rather her lack of one. Most of her home had been revamped but the laundry was still in its original condition. We put the mid century back into this space with colorful tile reminiscent of that era and a gorgeous recycled glass counter. What are you dreaming about for your laundry room? More storage? A mudroom space? A crafting area? I’d love to work ... View Post

A Moody Bedroom Revamp

This moody bedroom was completed revamped as part of the One Room Challenge it went from boring beige to a dramatic boudoir of pink, black and gold. The bedroom is often the last place to receive attention when people are redesigning or renovating their homes. We usually do the forward facing spaces like the kitchen, dining or living room. In this instance I decided to create a retreat for myself first. This was a 6 week process that I documented in a now defunct series of blog posts. I ... View Post

Make My Master Pretty

Make My Master Bedroom Pretty

This homeowner was widowed and after 5 years felt it was time to make her Master Bedroom pretty. A lot of the elements in her bedroom exuded a very masculine vibe. Her husband as a builder had made most of the choices. There were things she wanted to keep in the room. Those included her bed with its decidedly masculine headboard, the pink carpet on the floor, and the fireplace with its pink surround. However, once we began to choose the elements for the room, with its custom duvet, reading ... View Post

An Earthy Bathroom Remodel

The initial bathroom was very dated and out of style because it hadn't been changed in over 30 years. Therefore, the homeowner wanted an earthy feel to the bathroom, so when I found the copper tile I immediately knew that its was the grounding element for the space. I decided to have a blue vanity to symbolize water in our earthy bathroom. However, since navy wasn't yet a trend this vanity was custom made to meet the exacting specifications we need for the bathroom. The floors were ... View Post

A Very Blue Kitchen Renovation

So this very blue kitchen, I met this homeowner through her contractor. She wanted to do something unique and special in her kitchen and so he contacted me to help develop the vision. One of the first things we decided was that we were going to keep existing cabinets and paint them since they were in such excellent condition. I had previously completed a bathroom for her with a custom blue vanity and so decided that this kitchen would also have a hint of blue to it. Once we had decided on ... View Post
