This homeowner was widowed and after 5 years felt it was time to make her Master Bedroom pretty. A lot of the elements in her bedroom exuded a very masculine vibe. Her husband as a builder had made most of the choices.
There were things she wanted to keep in the room. Those included her bed with its decidedly masculine headboard, the pink carpet on the floor, and the fireplace with its pink surround. However, once we began to choose the elements for the room, with its custom duvet, reading chair, bench and pillows it was clear that those initial choices could be revised.
So despite keeping the headboard, we added some beautiful wallpaper to the back of the shelves. Also the shelves were changed to glass vs wood to add some femininity to it. We updated the carpet to a softer shade of cream, and refaced the fireplaces for a more elegant updated feel. We also softened the wooden blinds by adding a soft sheer drapes which diffused the light and made the room prettier. By changing out the fan for a crystal chandelier and adding a reading nook. The look and feel of the room completely changed to a more feminine feel.
I love to make each space really embody what the homeowner has requested. See in her own words how she felt about the results of making her Master Bedroom pretty.
